About Kieron Vella

Kieron Vella is a 29 year old IT professional living in Canada. Originally born on the small sunny island of Malta located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. Kieron has a passion for web development, design, gadgets gadgets and innovation. In his free time he is most probably surfing the web learning new ideas, blogging, reading a book, playing a video game, mountain biking or out having fun with his relatives and friends.

History

Developing software for over eight years Kieron specializes in the Microsoft technology stack. His interest in software development started back in 1999 while using Borland Pascal to develop projects for school and personal use. Later on he moved to Delphi 7, C and VB6.0 and now he is currently working with C# and VB.NET.

Art and design has always been his passion and a way to express his creativity. Starting an early career at the age of 16, he started utilizing his artistic skills when he found his first part-time job working as a glass fuser with a local glass factory. His day to day job was to create created fused glass and stained glass pieces ranging from wall frames to whole stained glass windows and table surfaces utilizing pieces of glass fused together to create wonderful art. Working in a factory was a hard job but a year later Kieron was asked to start working in the factory’s office. His new task involved using large-scale plotters to design logos and graphics and plot them over stickers that were used for glass sandblasting. Working half a day in the office designing vector designs with CorelDraw was definitely more more fun, so things started changing…

Kieron stopped his artistic career at the age of 19 after graduating from college in computer science. He continued studying full time software development for another two years while doing some freelance work in his spare time. In 2007 while showcasing his final year project he landed his first full-time job with a local software house.

As he moved on in his career he started combining his artistic skills with his software development skills to create professional work for himself, his clients and his prospective employers.

Experience

Over these past eight years developing software Kieron has gained a vast range of experience working on projects from different industry sectors such as: telecommunications, tourism, real estate, publishing, automotive, insurance, financial, health and the public sector.

Current Job

Kieron is currently working as a full-time senior software engineer with a local software house developing and managing a few large-scale projects, he has also finished a BSc Honours in Internet Application Development at Middlesex University to make his way to a Masters in Business Administration.
